I had the happy opportunity to get out of Shanghai and visit China’s capital city. Beijing has some nice aspects. While Shanghai is the business center and a thriving international hub, Beijing is a more relaxed city with a strong cultural aspect.
There was a brief visit to the Beijing Film Academy to meet up with one of its graduates Janus Zhang to discuss cooperation on upcoming projects.
We went to the CCTV-6 (the movie channel) offices to meet with the procurement manager and take care of some old business and pitching some new projects.
For our own chat we dropped in at Museum of Modern Art campus which is made up of several buildings and includes a very nice art house film theater.
We sat down to chat over a coffee at a bookshop cafe called Kubrick’s – named after the famous director.
There was also time for a meal with some folks in the distribution business on the Qianhai lake near the Forbidden City palace. This is a night life area with pubs surrounding the lake.
